If someone tried to sell you security instruments that was ten years old, would you spend on it? Of course not, it wouldn’t make sense to spend money on software that’s now outdated and vulnerable. Just like it doesn’t make sense to spend billions on US driver’s licenses that come with unencrypted computer chips – especially when you consider that those chips have been widely recognized as insecure for over a decade.
The US has recently updated its driver license date base at the DMV and the issue of real ID cards being in process to be achieved latest by October 2021 will help beef up security and link the two databases making it possible to easily figure out fraud.
It comes as the state issues new licenses that will let anyone board a plane within the country to any other state.

By October 1, 2020, if you use a driver's license to board a plane, new federal security measures require it be verified as Real ID, with a star symbol at the top of the card. Looking on the extra papers it demands, this takes more time, and requests are more often incomplete.
“I don’t have my 1099 or my ssn so I’ve been rejected,” Baigh said. “This Real ID issue is getting me real mad.”
In spite of the Secretary of State’s offices extending hours and adding staff, it’s been slow going.
In order to contain the long lines, the state points out if you have a valid real passport or Global Entry card you’ll be able to fly without a Real ID license. Thus real ID cards are only necessary for those flying within the USA, everything being equal, if you don't have a real ID you can use a passport as it's done in every international flight.
“Not everyone needs a Real ID,If you are one of those people who have a real and valid international passport then you don't need the real ID right away.
Some state issued Real IDs without the scanning required documents into the system database, this was a huge blunder that could compromise the security of the state and the international space. The state has to recall each of those licenses on a rolling basis.
“I didn’t just drop into the Loop. I had to make hustle to get here so I am coming back,” she said.
The Chicago Department of Aviation said it is exploring the idea of getting Illinois Secretary of State outposts at Midway and O’Hare to get more people signed up.
